Setting up the new RV

We have spent several days now getting our new Winnebago ready for travel.  It is significantly smaller than the 5th wheel so we have purged many seldom used items.  It took us 7 years to collect all that stuff in the old unit so it is a good thing to rethink what we really need - especially with gas prices so high  - we need to keep the weight down.
I have a vast collection of travel books for all parts of the country.  As well as lots of reference books - bird, tree, and flower identification, Scrabble dictionary, cookbooks.  I pared down the travel books to just the ones for this trip South, but couldn't make myself take out the reference books despite having the Internet available most of the time.  I usually carry dozens of mysteries and other leisure reading.  In this camper we will read E-books which take up little space.
Carter has been helping us ready the camper and is really excited about sleeping in it when we bring it to the cabin.  He has claimed the cabover bunk as his own special place and just loves climbing the little ladder to get up there.  Grandpa is working out a cargo net type solution for keeping him from falling out.  This may be the year we take him camping for a weekend at a state park.
Starting over with a new camper is exciting but a lot of work.  I had stocked the cupboards in the 5th wheel  with all standard supplies - toilet paper, kleenex, salt and pepper, first aid kit, dish soap etc. and left it in the camper all winter.  Now I am starting over - trying to remember everything we need.  Although it is not as though we are heading for the Yukon this year where we found very few grocery stores.  We are off to the Natchez Trace. More about that later and pictures of the new rig.
So once again I hope that you join us as we travel - either on the Web or in person.  We have room for you!
