Banff Hot Springs Hotel, AB, Canada

Today was wildlife day - we saw a female elk on the side of the road next to our campsite.  Then later, a whole herd of mountain sheep were on the road to Two Jack Lake.  The day started with a great buffet breakfast at Banff Hot Springs hotel.  It is an old railroad hotel built by the Canadian railway to encourage tourists across Canada from the East to pay for the building of the railway.  The hotel is just huge with a formal ballroom, a beautiful conservatory, and many wood-paneled sitting rooms.  The golf course adjacent to the hotel has been there since the 1920's and is just huge!
We walked around downtown some more and then drove up Tunnel Mountain drive which offered spectacular views and overlooks.  In the afternoon we hiked in to see more of the "hoodoo" rock formations along the Bow River.  There were lots of folks rafting the river in the sunshine but there was a strong breeze that kept the day pretty chilly.

Back at the campground we entertain ourselves by watching our many neighbors with rental RV trying to back up and hook up their water and sewer systems.  We feel like such old pros now.  When we can we offer assistance, but most folks seem anxious to do it on their own.
