Stony Creek RV Campground, Seward, Alaska

It was nice to wake up to blue sky and warm weather.  We really took it slow this morning and had a long, quiet breakfast.  I spent some time sorting through the cupboards and refrigerator to get set up for two campers instead of four or eight.
We went out for a drive and found a road which took us across the bay from Seward.  We took some great pictures of the bay in the sunshine.  We could see Mount Marathon across the bay so we drove there and saw lots of runners getting ready to run up and back down the 3000 foot hill on the 4th of July.  There is a hospital right at the bottom of the hill which must be a good thing during the marathon.  Many runners fall on this hill and get huge scrapes or break a limb.
After a nice lunch outside at our picnic table we went back to Exit Glacier which is the part of Kenai Fjords National Park that is accessible by road.  We hiked the longer trail to the glacier overlook.  It was an interesting hike which really took us close up next to the glacier.  We got some more good pictures.
The campground has gotten really busy as the 4th of July celebration grows near.  Many folks are also camped along Resurrection River in Chugach State Park.  There are no designated campsites - just groups of folks setting up tents on the vast gravel flats along the river.
We cooked some steaks and opened a bottle of wine to celebrate our next chapter in this Alaska adventure.
